Steak with cheesy parmesan mashed potatoes

This twist on the classic steak and mashed potatoes is delicious and perfect for all parmesan lovers!

Recipe

Steak (for 3-4 ppl)

400 g of sirloin steak
1 dl of olive oil
50 g of butter
Fresh rosemary
salt
Blackpepper
Garlic spice

*Spices to taste

Parmesan mashed potatoes

1 kg of potatoes
50 g of butter
175 g of parmesan cheese
350 ml of cooking cream
salt

Start by washing and peeling the potatoes and put them in boiling water seasoned with salt and make sure they are covered completely! The potatoes take about 15-20 minutes to cook, but you’ll know they’re done when you can easily prick them with a fork. Meanwhile, grate the parmesan cheese and add it to a bowl with the butter, cream and salt. When the potatoes are cooked, pour off the water and push the potatoes through the potato press. Mix all the ingredients together until you get a smooth consistency! Always remember to taste if you need more salt or even butter or cream if it’s too thick!

Prepare the steak for cooking by taking it out of the fridge 30 minutes before cooking. Next, dry the steak with a paper towel to remove excess moisture. Then add all the seasonings to all sides of the meat, this will give the meat extra flavour when it is cooked. Prepare the pan by adding a generous amount of oil and allowing it to heat up to a high temperature. Add the steaks to the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side if you want the steak to be medium rare. During the last 4 minutes, add the butter and rosemary and start basting the melted butter over the steak with a spoon. When the steak is done, remove it from the pan and let it rest for 10 minutes before cutting!

Tip: Use the butter and oil mixture left in the pan as a sauce on top of the steak and mashed potatoes for the perfect burst of flavour!

Tip: A pan with a thick base, such as a cast iron or carbon steel pan, is best for frying steak.
