Easy-to-make May Day Baked Donuts

There are many traditional treats to enjoy on May Day, such as drip bread or May Day fritters. But one of our absolute favorites are these super easy-to-make oven-baked donuts!

The best part? Oven-baked donuts do not require hot oil. If you are preparing your May Day meal with your kids, making them is easy and safe! I love to combine sweet and salty, so the salted caramel glaze is oh so heavenly AND IT ONLY TAKES 2 MINUTES TO MAKE. Easy breezy!

Easy-to-make salted caramel glazed donuts

12 pcs

The dough:
1 egg
1 ½ dl milk
½ dl rapeseed oil
3 dl flour
1 dl sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cardamom
½ tsp salt

The glazing
1 dl whipped cream
1 dl brown sugar
1 dl powdered sugar

On top:
Sea salt flakes

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Prepare your donut form. In a bowl, mix the egg, milk, and oil. In a separate bowl, mix the dry ingredients and use a strainer to add them to the dough. To get perfectly shaped donuts, do not fill the cups all the way to the top.

Bake in the oven for about 8 minutes. Do not over-bake the donuts or they will go dry. Remove the donuts off the form and let them cool down.
Mix the whipped cream and brown sugar in a coated pot. Heat until the mix starts boiling and boil for 2 minutes while keeping the mixture constantly moving. Let the caramel glaze cool down and add the powdered sugar. Dip the donuts into the glaze and drizzle some sea salt flakes on top.

Psst! To make life easier, you can find the super convenient donut form here or from our retailers!

Enjoy a wonderful May Day!
