All of us want to make good choices in life. We want to eat healthily, we want to take care of our planet and its inhabitants – both humans and animals. We want to treat nature so it has a chance to thrive.
However, nice words and thoughts aren’t enough. We need to take action. We need good choices. Every one of us can decide to make the choices, that will impact the betterment of our surroundings and our well-being in it.
People often think that the right kind of choices are either too challenging or too expensive. But we have to look at the bigger picture. A good choice is like a good investment, it will pay off in the long run. For example, when you purchase a frying pan, that is a little bit more pricey than you’re used to, but made of high-quality materials and manufactured in proper conditions, it is a far better investment than buying a frying pan that you will have to renew in less than a year.
HEIROL has committed to working towards sustainability in all facets of its business. Throughout the 30-year history of the company, HEIROL has kept the well-being of nature and people as a focal point in their manufacturing and selling process. The health of our planet and the people on it are two of the most valuable resources we have, so we have to take care of them by any means necessary.
There is no “Plan B”
PFAS, which is short for perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances, is the collective name for a group of 5,000 toxic chemicals used in many consumer products. PFAS chemicals are popular because of their non-stick, water-repellent, and heat-resistant properties. These chemicals are in numerous products, such as cosmetics, food packaging, frying pans, outdoor equipment, and fire fighting gear.
The industrial use of PFAS has been so prevalent in the last decades that 99% of humans, including fetuses, have measurable levels of PFAS in their bloodstream. PFAS chemicals are not only harmful to humans, but to animals as well.
Change is not easy
As long as there is no clear legislation for the use of PFAS, the use of these chemicals in manufacturing will continue. In the production of HEIROL frying pans, we have always taken into account that the materials we use are safe. All the materials we use are non-toxic and long-lasting. This year though, we have taken further action. There will be more to come this year, but this is the first one:
HEIROL has signed an agreement to join environmental organization ChemSec’s NO TO PFAS movement. An attempt to reduce and stop the usage of fluorinated chemicals, also known as forever chemicals, since these compounds do not break down easily in the environment. A part of the goal is to increase the knowledge of the harmful side effects of PFAS chemicals. By joining the NO TO PFAS movement, HEIROL has become a part of an initiative in cooperation with well-known brands, such as H&M, Peak Performance, Bestseller, Lacoste, and many more.
